RADIOACTIVE
MAN #100!
Radioactive Man, Bart Simpson's favorite superhero, has a real comic book -- but this isn't "really" issue 100. Each issue of this superhero parody book is assigned a number based on its contents. Golden Age satires have lower numbers, Modern Age higher, etc. So, there haven't actually been 100 issues of Radioactive Man published. But never mind that -- it's comedy!
Here's Radioactive Man #100, an exquisite parody of Superman #100 and other Silver Age DC comic books and house ads. It has a regular cover, pictured left, plus another "cover" inside the book -- a full-size, printed on real cover-stock paper second cover, showing just the RM cover the Comic Book Guy is holding.
Let's take a look inside, shall we? |

The Superman cover above reprints smaller version of past Superman milestone covers: 1, 25, 50 and 75.
The Radioactive Man parody cover pictured right also reprints smaller covers, but only RM #1 was actually published. The rest of the covers were created just for this special issue! |

Above: Detective Comics #352, featuring Carmine Infantino's patented "little hands pointing at stuff and gesturing" captions. Remember them?
Right: Splash page of Radioactive Man #100's RM story, featuring a parody of the Infantino hands. One set of hands is making a Richard Nixon shadow puppet on the wall with a little flashlight. RM is talking to it. Cool! The hands finally broke through into the story! |
