Chandu the Magician, created by Harry A. Earnshaw and Raymond R. Morgan, debuted on a radio serial in 1932. Gayne Whitman played Chandu aka Frank Chandler, who learned occult secrets from a yogi in India.
Chandu had numerous supernatural powers, including astral projection, teleportation and the ability to create illusions. His goal was to "go forth with his youth and strength to conquer the evil that threatens mankind." The character was immortalized in several movie adaptations...
