Part 19 of an all-new 21-part series - Click here for part one!
JANUARY 1965
XHi reader! This is the second to last installment of our massive series collecting all the ads in DC's "Coming Super Attractions" ad campaign, created by Mort Weisnger (bust pictured right in a panel drawn by Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson) and Ira Schnapp.

In the CSA ad below, teenagers searching for their own identities could relate to "Clark Kent's Incredible Delusion," where the ace reporter wakes up on day to find himself powerless, and another Superman in Metropolis!

Center box: When another guy is after your woman, he could only be... a monster! And finally, in the last box, a quiet little landmark. This CSA ad contains the first mention of a Legionnaire who would eventually become known as Timber Wolf, a forerunner to Marvel's super-popular Wolverine character, both in powers and in his "lone wolf" attitude.

FEBRUARY 1965
Family feuds dominate the ad below -- secret wives, evil brothers, and bizarre new relatives! In box three, Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel has a field day creating with this story where Bizarro duplicates of the entire Legion of Superheroes set out to CREATE emergencies instead of solving them!
X
BELOW: Box one is a repeat from the ad above, while the other boxes feature Weisinger staples: super-powered rivals, and a formula-reversing story about the sudden LOSS of super-powers. EXTRA: The Enemy Supergirl!

MARCH 1965
The ad below repeats two boxes from the ad above, and the third box comes from the ad above that. This is the FIRST ad in the entire CSA series that features no "new" artwork.
X

The story in the first box below features art from the Superman story used for this issue's Dial B for BLOG mash-up cover (seen at the top of this page). Center box: It appears Lois has been concealing a gambling addiction! And to make matters worse, Lana has been enabling her. In a story foreshadowing TV's "The Bachelor," the girls draw cards for the right to wed the hero of another world. And, in box three, kids worrying over their futures find a cautionary tale.

APRIL 1965
Below, we have two repeats and one new box, featuring dependable Jimmy Olsen as a mapcap director filming his own monster movie. Jimmy's obviously got friends in the business, because he somehow managed to get King Kong and Godzilla to star in his flick! Not only that, but he even convinced the monster superstars to do the movie under stage names by offering them back-end points.

BELOW: In box two, the LSH's super-rivals get a guest-spot in Adventure Comics. And in box three, a dramatization of every schoolboy's nightmare, getting caught committing a crime so horrible you get sent to jail, and it's recorded on your "permanent record." Extra: Supergirl Becomes the Kryptonian Killer. Film at 11?

What if "SUPERMAN RETURNS" advertised in the CSA style?

That's all for this installment of COMING SUPER ATTRACTIONS.
See you next time, reader!
