Part 15 of an all-new 21-part series - Click here for part one!
OCTOBER 1959
In this ad, the universe-stripe has returned, complete with stars and Johnny DC! Also returning (really they never left) are themes of rivalry and rejection.

OCTOBER 1963
This ad features an all-time classic, "The World of Doomed Olsens," in which all Jimmy's strange transformations get together at the same time. Naturally the star of the group is giant turtle-boy. On the far right, it's Supes vs. Lex part one million, only this time it's a fist fight on an alien world and Superman has no powers. Editor Mort Weisinger, creator of the "CSA" ad campaign, loved to take away the Man of Steel's powers temporarily.

NOVEMBER 1963
The images are temporarily beaten back in the ad below, relegated to only the center box this time. The ACTION box on the far right looks like it has at least a dictionary's worth of copy stuffed into it. Not even designer Ira Schnapp could make this one looks good, although he did manage to add some interest by adding italics, upper case letters, and bolding.

DECEMBER 1963
More super-rivals, super romance troubles, and super juvenile delinquents. The Lois Lane box on the far right contains almost all of the issue's cover scene -- a portent of things to come!
