ONE TO SHOCK YOU - CONCLUSION
I AM KRYPTONITE!

Hello reader! Robby Reed here. As we all know, Kryptonite is a fragment of Superman's home planet which is deadly to all Kryptonians. Given that it had to travel all the way from Krypton, you might assume Kryptonite would be rare on Earth. But it's not. In fact, nearly everyone Superman knows throws gigantic boulders of the stuff at him with alarming regularity...

Of course, there are several colorful varieties of Kryptonite...
X
...and more seem to turn up all the time...
X
But Green K is the most prevalent. Sometimes, it seems like every punk in the world has his own personal chunk. Green K is available by the trainload -- literally! In fact, there are entire armies of the stuff walking around.
X
Oh look, another new kind of Kryptonite...

But reader, did you know that each piece of Kryptonite is actually a LIVING BEING? True fact! DC's Silver Age was full of bizarre creatures, but without doubt, the MOST bizarre was a living chunk of Superman's home planet -- the most tragic and pathetic character ever created! Yes, in late 1964, a lump of Kryptonite actually got its own back-up feature, "Tales of Kryptonite."

The stories were written by Otto Binder. Binder, who wrote zillions of scripts for Capt. Marvel (Original Shazam version), was a "new ager" before his time. He believed mankind came from ancient alien astronauts, and also believed in extraterrestrial life and UFOs. So why NOT a talking chunk of radioactive rock?

The Tales of Kryptonite stories, drawn by Al Plastino, ran in these four issues of Superman (they were not mentioned on the covers)...
