DC EXPLODES ON TV - NUMBER FOUR
Batman #66: "Batman's Greatest Boner!"

This issue, "DC Explodes on TV," continues counting down the top 12 covers of DC comics as seen on television. Today it's cover number four, the infamous Batman #66 featuring "The Joker's Comedy of Errors," aka "Batman's Greatest Boner!" Believe it or not, the cover of this cult classic was seen on "The Adventures of Superman" in the episode "Mystery In Wax."

What if someone in the Superman TV world
actually READ the story in this issue? It would be like a nightmare!

And it gets worse! Another book seen on the rack is Superman #72 (previously seen in the episode where the crippled girl meets Superman). The issue's cover story opens with a very blatant announcement that Clark is Superman!
X
The damage doesn't stop there. What about Batman and Robin, seen below, left, on the cover of World's Finest #54? They don't EXIST in TV Superman's world -- and it's a GOOD THING they don't! Because a panel from the issue (below, right) reveals their precious secret identities...

Other comics seen on the newsstand...

The cover seen BELOW is also on the newsstand. It's the infamous Batman #66, cover by Dick Sprang, which told the story of "The Joker's Comedy of Errors" aka "Batman's Greatest Boner!"
X
What if someone in TV Superman's world had actually read Batman #66? It probably would have lead to congressional hearings!
X
Remember the Imp League? Well guess what...

Here it is, reader! The most infamous story in Bat-history... BATMAN'S GREATEST BONER! Keep in mind that the primary meaning for the word "boner" used to be "mistake," so every time you see the term "boner" or "biggest boner," it means "biggest mistake." Supposedly. Allegedly. The word boner is used 37 times in this story. Was this done intentionally? The story was written by Bill Finger. You figure it out. (Art by Lew Sayre Schwartz and Charles Paris.)

It begins when the Joker makes a BLUNDER that ruins his own crime!
