James Warren’s black and white horror magazine, Creepy, hit newsstands in 1964. The following year, Warren tried his hand at war comics with a controversial new magazine called BLAZING COMBAT. Warren staffer Archie Goodwin edited, and wrote all but one of the series' 29 stories.
Artists included Gene Colan, Reed Crandall, George Evans, Russ Heath, Gray Morrow, Joe Orlando, John Severin, Angelo Torres, Alex Toth and Wally Wood. Covers were painted by Frank Frazetta. The title lasted only four issues, cover-dated October 1965 to July 1966.
Today, rights to the title are owned by

Mr. Catron has allowed me to announce that a complete Blazing Combat collection will be coming out from Fantagraphics later this year! Watch for it.
DIAL B for BLOG will focus on each of the series' four issues for the next four days, with a new DBB issue every day until Memorial Day on Monday! We start with BLAZING COMBAT #1, October 1965, cover painting by Frank Frazetta:
