BATMAN BEGINS? NOT WITHOUT NEAL!
NEAL ADAMS' BATMAN Issue!

Who reinvented Batman? Who modernized comic books? Who invented "reality comics" long before Reality TV ever hit the air? The one and only NEAL ADAMS! Presenting our special All-Adams, All-Batman issue of Dial B for BLOG. Let's begin, shall we? Pictured below are the beautiful Talia and her evil father, Ra's Al Ghul -- Dial "A" for Animated -- from pencils by Neal Adams to inks by Dick Giordano to colors by Cory Adams, Neal's son.

ROOKED OUT OF ROYALTIES
Ra's Al Ghul by O'Neil and Adams!

Denny O'Neil created the character of Ra's Al Ghul, Neal Adams visualized him -- above, a panel from Batman #243, and below, covers of Detective Comics #405, Batman #244, and Batman #245, all penciled and inked by Neal Adams. And do either Adams or O'Neil get royalties from these characters being in the new Batman movie? Of course not!

CON LANTERNA VERDE?
Neal Goes to Rome!

Here's the cover of Batman #243 as it appeared in the USA (left) and in an Italian version of the comic (right). The Italian version uses an old logo, recolors the figures, and crops the floor to a circle.

By the way, "Con Lanterna Verde" means, you guessed it, "With Green Lantern." (The issue featured some Neal Adams GL stories as a back-up.)

CONFERENCE ROOM CRUSADER
Batman by Adams!

This acrylic painting of Batman was done by Neal for the conference room of Continuity, Neal's Manhattan art studio. From Comic Book Artist #1, v2. Click the pic to go to the Comic Book Artist back issue page!

BOOK AND RECORD SET
Bat-record with Bat-book by Adams!

It's just one of those stupid book/record read-along sets ... but the cover, AND the entire story inside, were penciled and inked by Neal Adams! This is not "dumbed-down" Adams, aimed at small children -- this is full-force Neal in his prime. Add the Joker into the mix, and you've got a sort of sequel to "The Joker's Five-Way Revenge." Of course, the uncredited writer of this little story should be shot (it's a lame imitation of the Batman TV series with Adam West), but so what. It's Neal Adams! Click the cover for a big version.

COVER STORY
Classic Adams Covers!

No one covers Batman like Neal Adams! Here are Batman #227 (a redo of an old Detective Comics cover), 241, and 251, all by Neal!

.
MASTER OF ALL CHARACTERS
Superhero Jam by Adams!

Of course, Neal can draw ANY character! Here's Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Superman, Hulk, Batman, and Atomic Mouse -- they all meet in this great, little-seen piece. Click the pic for a bigger version. Do it! Or stop calling yourself a Neal Adams fan.
