The JOKER GETS BELTED!

Batman's world-famous Utility Belt had been with him from the very beginning -- but how did the Joker come to get his OWN Utility Belt? It happened in Batman #73 (October 1952) in a story titled (what else) "The Joker's Utility Belt!" (cover shown above left). This story was reprinted in a special edition Batman comic (center) as well as in 80-page Giant Batman #176 (December 1965, right). Now, it's being presented in one more place -- here on DIAL B for BLOG! Enough talking -- let's get started.

That's how this story ended -- but this was NOT the end of the Joker's Utility Belt. In fact, the Joker's belt would prove to be one of the main inspirations for the 1966 Batman television show, and this story was among the very first comics the show's Executive Producer, William Dozier, chose to adapt for TV!
