Remember way back when comic book publishers actually tried to attract NEW readers? Instead of depending on the same small and ever-shrinking readership, DC ran ads that explained the core concepts behind their comics, and tried to educate new readers on the "superhero scene." There was no need to be familiar with the book -- these ads introduced the characters and their powers in a single neat package, and tried to turn civilians into comic fans!
