DIAL B GOES APE!

The new "King Kong" movie opens today! The original "Kong" (left) premiered March 2nd, 1933, but it wasn't until the fifties that DC began putting gorillas on their covers, starting with Strange Adventures #8, May 1951 (right). The comic sold well, so soon almost every DC comic featured an ape on its cover. Here are just some -- not all! -- of the most memorable DC ape covers!
