.Before the advent of the Fantastic Four in November 1961, most books in the Marvel Comics line featured big, scary monsters! Most of these monsters had names like Zzutak, Oorgo, and the infamous Fin Fang Foom. But SOME of these monsters had names that were to play an important role in the history .of Marvel Universe, because Stan Lee would later borrow their names for use by his new superheroes!

Marvel is currently paying tribute to hheir "monsterous" roots with a series of books featuring their old monsters in new stories as well as classic reprints (see "Devil Dinosaur" with his pal the Hulk, pictured left). So I, Robby Reed, creator of this blog, decided to do the same.

Pictured below are a series of old Marvel covers, most from the early 1960s, showing a prophetically-named monster on the left, and the superhero who later borrowed the monster's name on the right. Just to give him something to write about in his diary, we'll start off with the original Hulk! That's right -- not the incredible Hulk, the original hulk!

NOW HULK IS MAD AT DIAL B FOR BLOG! ONLY HULK IS HULK! HULK WILL SMASH IMPOSTER WHO STOLE HULK'S NAME BEFORE HULK HAD IT!! AAARRRRRGGGHHH!
