Hello, reader! Robby Reed here. As you may have noticed, there are some words missing on the cover of The Demon #15, by Jack Kirby, pictured above. But I didn't erase them! This comic was actually printed with a word balloon that was only partially filled-in. Talk about a major proofreading error! Oy vey!
.
How did it happen? Well, color comics are printed by mixing just four colors: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. In all probability, the missing words were meant to be printed in magenta, and someone in DC's production department failed to open that area of the image to the magenta plate. Result: a half-empty word balloon!

What was the missing copy supposed to say? The villain of the story is Klarion the Witch Boy -- not exactly the same Klarion who is currently starring in Grant Morrison's ."Seven Soldiers of Victory" Klarion mini-series, but the character's original incarnation as created by Jack Kirby. In this issue, Klarion is trying to replace the Demon with an "evil twin" who is the Witch Boy's slave.

Given that this was the plot, and given the panel pictured above right which seems to be the "cover shot" panel, it's likely the empty balloon on the cover was supposed to have said: "
KILL HIM!! And you will exist in his place!!"

All of which leads us to the very first DIAL B for BLOG contest! Reader, what new and FUNNY dialogue can you think up to fill the empty DEMON word balloon? Post your FUNNY dialogue using the link below that says "Click below to enter contest."

Don't worry about fitting your funny dialogue into the actual space in the empty balloon -- it can be ANY length! (But keep in mind that brevity is the soul of wit!) You can also use dirty words! Or ANY words! Anything you .want -- as long as it's FUNNY!

What's the PRIZE? A once in a lifetime opportunity! The reader who writes the most humorous dialogue (as judged by me, Robby Reed, the creator of this blog) will get to name the subject of a future DIAL B for BLOG issue! That's right, I'll do a special issue of DIAL B for BLOG on ANY comic book character or topic the winner wants!

This contest ends at midnight tonight! After the winner is chosen, I'll Photoshop their funny dialogue into the Demon cover and post it here, along with the real cover. Sockamagee! Get to work, reader!

This contest is now closed...
Thanks to everyone who voted! The large number and excellent quality of your responses has made this my favorite DIAL B for BLOG feature so far. Every single entry was very funny in its own way, but I had to go with the one that made me laugh out loud for the longest time. Something about the total absurdity of it really got to me! I've also posted the second and third place winners, and the best "in-joke" (although they are really all in-jokes). I urge you to read ALL the entries in the comments section of today's issue, because they show how creative and witty the readers of this blog are. Plus, they're all really funny. Thanks again, everyone, for a really great contest! Sockamagee!
